Waiting for Ophelia
We had a very busy day. First thing we crabbed our pots, picked up the boat and cooked the crabs. We then started at the shore and worked our way up the three yards picking up and put away that could float or blow away. We picked up everything on the floor in the sheds and put it up on shelves or benches out of the way of the flood waters we are forecasted. All hanging plants and chimes have been put away. All the potted plants (and there are a lot) put up out of the salt water and wind. You get the idea. I picked up our neighbors yard as well. They are in FL. We washed all the laundry. Hubby got on the two story garage roof and pruned the Leyland cypress tree branches away from the building. Then we went to my grandparents home on the island and mowed the grass. I potted up the lettuce plants my sister got me and put them in the cold frame until after the storm. then we got showered up and headed out to check on my mother. She lives on the water also. We picked up some fried chicken (her fav.) for tomorrow and chicken Pancit and lumpia dinners for this evening. We added a pumpkin cheese cake for her to enjoy during the storm. comfort food you know. Back home we are making Italian venison sausage and cannoli bean soup for tomorrow. I'll be glad when it is done as we both are really tired. I hope we have done enough...we have been at it for two days. We really did not get a lot of notice for this one. The rain has started and the tide is in the back yard. Be safe friends.
