Wanderings and meanders

Great Crested Grebe

The Serpentine, Hyde Park, London

A long walk through parks and gardens.  A beautiful sunny day, to begin with.  Headed up the Mall, across The Green Park and into Hyde Park, a detour around the Albert Hall then up through Kensington Gardens as far as the Elfin Oak.  Across to the Italian Gardens, which is where the thunderstorm struck and all paths became rivers.  As the rain eased, we stopped at Peter Pan, enjoying the statue and the array of waterbirds.  Back in Hyde Park the sun came out and we were sat out a bench enjoying the view when this grebe obliged to pose.

The evening's entertainment was Rebecca at Charing Cross Theatre. Very different from the Raimund Theatre production last October, not just in scale but also because I didn't need subtitles.  The cast were excellent.  Perhaps the curse of the English language version has been overcome, or perhaps we caught it whilst we could, we'll have to wait and see.
