Clickimin Broch

After a (very) bumpy overnight ferry journey we arrived in Lerwick early this morning. We were able to collect the keys to our cottage first thing so were at our holiday cottage by 8am. We had a cup of tea, unpacked and then headed back to Lerwick for a coffee. We then explored Lerwick a bit, had a look round Fort Charlotte, which is in the centre of Lerwick, and found somewhere for lunch. After lunch we went to see Clickimin Broch, which is on the edge of Lerwick. For me, this was a really thrilling experience as it's a site I was taught about as an undergraduate, have read about and regularly seen images of but never visited before. And today I got to visit it. A great start to our holiday, even if we all were still recovering from being tossed about on the ferry last night!
