A load of bull!
We came across these English Longhorns on our walk today.
A recce of the walk we are leading a week on Thursday for the ,Pudseys from Oakwell Hall.
Fortunately they were at the far end of the field and the warning sign didn’t put us off.
Hopefully they may have moved to another field next week.
We have decided to change part of the walk as the ( none existent ) path up a steep wooded hillside and over a stile into ankle deep mud is I think too difficult. So will do a slight detour.
We thought the walk would be 5/6 miles, but it is about 7. We certainly enjoyed a soak in the bath when we got home.
Fingers crossed for a day like today which has been warm and sunny.
Some of you managed to guess what yesterday’s extra was all about.
The following translation is not word for word.
On the 16 August 1908 T.E. Lawrence stayed at the Grand Hôtel de Midi on his 20th Birthday.
He was on a cycling tour in France following in the steps of Richard Coeur de Lion.
( His thesis subject at Oxford University was)
“ The influence of the Crusades on European military architecture to the end of the 12th century “. before fulfilling his destiny to become Lawrence of Arabia.
The plaque was in Châlus where Richard the Lion Heart was killed.
In August 2015 the town had a festival to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of Lawrence of Arabia’s death, including free camel rides and an English market.
