Hierarchy

If you are Top Pelican you stand on the tallest pole and preen yourself. It you’re a lesser pelican you sit modestly in the lower spot.
 
That seems an appropriate introduction to the 2023 Australian Bird of the Year poll, which has just commenced (extra). The poll starts with a list of fifty birds. You can vote once a day and you can change your vote each time if you want to, or if your first choice is eliminated. Today I voted for the Australian Pelican, of course.
