Vale Dessy

Dessy, who has died at the age of 93, used to. drive tower cranes like this one. As a construction safety inspector he was deeply committed to protecting worker safety in that toughest of industries. He was a member of the CFMEU, one of the toughest industrial unions in Australia. He was also one of the gentlest, kindest people I have ever worked with. He wrote poetry and he worked tirelessly for young people in his local community. He was, simply, a lovely man.
