Thinning canopy

A lot of water came out of the sky today but we also saw a little sunshine too. Unfortunately, the sun disappeared behind a great big grey cloud just as Bertie and I set out for our walk, then it began to rain heavier and heavier. From time to time it felt as if someone was blasting us with a hose. Our afternoon walk is often in the woods behind our house and usually we are sheltered from excesses of sun, wind and rain, but not today! I looked up to see why not and saw that there were relatively few leaves left on the birch trees. Instead, they were lying under my feet. This is the only photo I took today as my phone was in danger of drowning!
