Varenna, Piazza S Giorgio

On a whim today we decided to take the ferry over to Varenna for lunch. We should have taken an earlier ferry, but it was a last minute decision. I had also misread the timetable, and thought could have a long wait for a later ferry. As the restaurant where we planned to go had a queue we just went for a snack in a bar instead.

Nice ferry journey, especially on the way back when the air temperature had warmed up a bit. We could not believe how busy the ferry was. Not everybody was able to board. Most people were only going to the next village. It would be better had they taken the direct car ferry, so that those going further than the next stop could be sure of boarding.

On our return to Lenno we stopped off at the bar briefly for an Aperol and then popped into the deli to buy something for dinner.
