Changing Seasons
Today I went up to the Morn Hill butterfly reserve - not for any butterflies (though I did see 3 red admirals, what a surprise) but for a glimpse of the changing seasons. This is what I came home with. The purple flower is Devilsbit Scabious (Succisa pratensis), one of the real laggards of the wildflower world, and together with the dead grasses the bare acres on the other side of the valley and that rather troubled grey sky really speaks to me, at least, of the end of summer and start of autumn.
Thanks to steveng for hosting WidWed this month and giving us such cracking subjects.
Not a lot else to report: a quiet lunchtime and a walk with Hazel this afternoon just about wraps it up.
Hope your midweek's treating you kindly and that the storms around in some parts haven't made themselves felt too badly xx
