Rocamadour
One of the excursions on our recent holiday was to the spectacular cliff-side village of Rocamadour.
Built on three levels, the top level has the castle and the ramparts and is also where one usually approaches the attraction. From there one can either walk down a path or take a lift to the sanctuary area, consisting of a number of churches and chapels. Another lift or a stone staircase takes one to the street level where there are houses, shops, restaurants, etc and the city gates.
I walked down to the different levels but, since the tour company had bought us return tickets for the ascenseurs, I took them back to the car and coach park on the top level. Well, I had already completed my step-count for the day, lunch had been eaten and the temperature was rising as the clouds burnt off.
