Eye to Eye

Beady Eye of the Bearded Vulture

… as it flew past us today high on the ridge above Javerne. I wasn’t ready and this was the only shot in reasonable focus and it is such a rare bird, reintroduced to Switzerland in 1991 and there were only 27 pairs in 2022. With its wingspan of up to 2.8m it is also the largest bird in the alps! Not quite as cute as the three baby bouquetin (extra) we saw, so young that we are speculating whether they will survive the winter or not. Second extra of one of the fabulous views on the way up!

Family and other visitors to end a great day, and apologies for no commenting and a huge thanks for your appreciation of yesterday’s “Queen-Fisher”!
