POST OFFICE

Had to send off a parcel to a little girl who is turning 4 next week. Fortunately the only store in town selling clothing, PEP Stores, had a charming mauve cotton tracksuit with enough touches of pink, flowers with glitter etc to gladden any little girl's heart.
So off to the Post Office to buy a box, back home to pack and tape the box up, back to the Post Office to post it and grab the opportunity for a blip.
The angle that I liked the most shows the water furrow running through the village. Many Karoo villages have their irrigation furrows runnning through the village but few are still in use. We are lucky in that we live at the top end of the village nearest the mountain so we do not have many people above us taking water.
Water theft is a subtle thing easily achieved by simply putting a few small stones under the sluice gate and allowing the water to leak into your dam. In summer the poor villagers at the far end of the system get very little water. For those who have their "waterbeurt" (Turn to have water) in the middle of the night, this can be a problem. Many a court battle has been fought over water rights.
Blipping has become a headache because band width seems to be in short supply and I was unable to get connected yesterday and also on the weekend. Being determined I am getting this in early this morning before the town wakes up!
