WHATS UP?

The bird book calls these birds "sparrows" but we prefer the afrikaans name "mossie". They are lively, bossy little birds and are normally cheerful and communicative.
We have however witnessed some horrendous domestic battles accompanied by a cacophony of abuse and much pecking. One irate bird even dragged her adversary around by the head with much flapping of wings.
Mossies are happy to squat in the swallow's nests given half a chance. Otherwise their nests are scruffy affairs with bits and pieces trailing everywhere.
