Home again

We did as we'd planned and left Portnahaven at 7.45am to join the stand-by queue for the ferry at Port Askaig. We arrived at 8.30 and were rather disappointed to find nine vehicles in the queue before us! It seemed unlikely that we would get on the 10.30 ferry. If not, at least the sea was calm and we'd manage our booked voyage, at 3.30pm, but would have more than five hours to kill. My Blip today is looking over the ferry queue and the MV Finlaggan to the mountains of Jura in the background.

As it happened we just made it!  We were squeezed in, together with the car behind us, at the very tail end, next to a huge transporter full of sheep, bound for Yorkshire.

We had a lovely calm voyage and finally arrived  home in Oban soon after 2pm, to be met by a couple of rather bored cats. They don't seem to miss us much!

All I have to do now is to process some 275 pictures. I'm sure I'll get rid of plenty as the weather hasn't been too great on Islay. And so that's the last 50th wedding anniversary for a while!!
