Back Home again

Today was meant to be the highlight of our weeks tour. We planned the trip so as to be near Manchester today to celebrate our eldest daughters 40th birthday. She shares my wife's dislike of fuss and bother so it was only to be a lowkey affair, just her immediate family and us two. She phoned us a couple of days ago and told us she has Covid and is feeling really rough. As she was not up to it and we are both desperate to avoid catching it again all plans were changed. The presents and cards were left on her door step and we talked across the length of her garden. Very unsatisfactory and sad way to celebrate this landmark.
Last nights hotel was right next to the canal, a beautiful spot, except for the traffic noise.
The journey home was long but uneventful. We picked up Dudley dog (very pleased to see us), came home sat down and watched a rugby match on TV. I am cathederaled out for the time being.
One thing I forgot to mention on yesterdays blip was seeing an international TV star . We went passed  STōK Cae Ras yesterday afternoon, admittedly without really appreciating where we were. STōK Cae Ras is also known as the Racecourse Ground, home of Wrexham Town football club and star of a hit Disney channel programme with their owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. Just one of the many highlights of our road trip.
Now back to normal, washing needs doing and the grass needs cutting
