Rustling noises up on the steep railway embankment revealed a doe and two young deer edging their way along the wire fence among tall skeletal remains of giant hogweed then stopping to watch a train speeding on the route from Edinburgh southwards to England.  Fortunately the high wire fence looked strong enough to prevent them from wandering onto the train track.
