Hare Today...

We have seen hares at Dawyck twice in the past so, considering the number of visits we have made, they might be considered rare. Usually they are dashing away down the path but we were lucky today, as this one was fairly relaxed and, though distant, we managed a couple of shots.

Elsewhere the delicate blooms of autumn crocus brightened long grass, autumn colour, where available, was suitably vivid, and the monkey puzzles were growing their magnificent cones; these, with another view of the hare, appear in the extra.

Not in the extra are the red admiral butterflies, we watched several flying around a yew tree - were they feeding on the fruits or merely displaying in that patch of sunshine?

Approaching via the Meldons and pottering home the pretty way, via Biggar, made for a very pleasant afternoon out.
