13 Valleys

A new Ultra race took place in the Lakes this weekend - the 13 Valleys Ultra Marathon - taking in most of the Lake District and covering 180Km. As this is a backblip, I can say the winner completed the route in 22 hours 55 minutes and 27 seconds. Second place was over 7 hours behind, possibly because they allowed themselves some sleep! More racers dropped out than finished.

There was also a 7 valley, a 5 valley and a 2 valley version, of progressively shorter distances. This was the start of the 20Km - so less extreme athletes, but still no easy task.
