Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2023 Sunday — Famous Jazz Artist Series

This all started with lunch way back on Friday, July 28th when Mr. Fun & I spontaneously stopped at the Harmony Cafe in Cambria. Finishing the most delicious lunch we may have ever eaten, I asked Mary our server, "Who plays the piano?" as I pointed to grand piano across the room.

Mary handed me a printed flier for an upcoming Sunday evening dinner concert. Since then almost every other Sunday evening we've managed to get our names on the reservation list for the "Famous Jazz Artist Series." Each of those evenings has been very interesting, more than entertaining, and definitely satisfying.

And that is true for tonight’s concert, which was a tribute to the great music of George and Ira Gershwin. The concert is the attraction; however, the meal is truly something to write home about.

The producers of the series, Charlie & Sandi Shoemake, have a long history in the Los Angeles Jazz world. They've been married 64 years and both of them perform in these concerts. Look-up their history on the Internet; very interesting.

Harmony Cafe in Cambria at the J. Buckley Theatre is owned and operated by Italian master chef Giovanni Grillenzoni, who once owned a small farm in Italy.

The Café is one of the Central Coast’s best-kept culinary secrets. Formerly located in the tiny town of Harmony; the café relocated to Cambria in 2012 and has been home there ever since.

Locals love it, and visitors come from far and wide to try the fresh-made pasta and frequently changing menu. It is open for lunch during the week and lunch and dinner on weekends.

In the City of Cambria
on California’s Central Coast,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
and Chloe & Mitzi too!
