Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2023 Friday — Fieldtrip

No one said it was “Show & Tell” Friday, but I think it might be, could be. If it’s five o’clock somewhere, then it must be “Show & Tell” somewhere.

Mr. Fun & I went on a field trip today to celebrate . . . because . . . well, you know . . . it’s the 29th. That in and of itself is enough reason to celebrate.

I asked if we could go to Lombardi’s in Cambria for Italian lunch. We exited an overcast gray Cayucos traveled north on Hwy. #1 and rolled into a sunny bright Cambria. Uh-oh! With the two pups in the car, we have to park in shade.

Shade trees in downtown Cambria are few. We discovered shade near Madeline’s in West Village and without prior plans we found ourselves celebrating right where we celebrated 4 months ago on the “real” anniversary date, May 29th. Madeline’s for lunch was not only a surprise, it was a very pleasant place with delicious cuisine.

Then Mr. Fun entertained me by not complaining once as we stopped at no less than eight places so I could satisfy my need to lookey-lou and doodah. We stopped at GiGi’s Thrift Shop, Cambria Inspirations, the Friends of the library store, Re•create thrift store, the Garden Shed, Cambria Drug & Gifts; Soto’s True Earth Market, and finally the Cambria Nursery.

I paid $1.00 for a never worn pair of jeanology pants from Newport News; $5 for a brand new teapot, 2 wooden handled spatulas 50¢ each, a garlic press for $3; a $1 for a new cowboy t-shirt with scripture on back (obviously surplus from the cowboy church).

We were home by 4:00 and thoroughly satisfied with the things that followed us home, and especially the clouds, the fog, and heavy mist that made our evening feel like winter.

So that’s the tell. The show is my photo collage.
