The Kingdom of the Sun

A name given to Palermo by invading Normans in the 12th century.
After a good night’s sleep, Mr P and I set off to see more of the city today and there was an awful lot to see. We walked our socks off, even though it was too hot to wear any.
Highlights today included La Martorana and San Cataldo churches, Teatro Massimo (the opera house where the iconic final scenes of The Godfather 3 were filmed) and the Pretoria Fountain which the locals (in particular the nuns) called the Fountain of Shame because of the many naked statues!
We were fortified by vast quantities of pizza at lunch to keep us going with our visits throughout the afternoon. Feet up tonight.
