Plaza Real
I assessed a face-to-face CELTA course in Oxford in the afternoon, finishing around 8pm.
Then Bb and I joined Max and Dasha in Petit Tapas, Calle Ample 26, in the heart of the Barrio Gotico. Wolfgang joined briefly.
Afterwards, the four of us went for a drink to Plaza Real to our long-time favourite place there, Bar Glacier (where we’ve been with a few blippers). Magda joined us for a wee while. Bar Glacier was the last place on the square to keep its authenticity, but very sadly, it’s also succumbed. The beautiful old marble tables inside, where we used to sometimes sit and read the Sunday papers, now have white tablecloths. The best tables on the terrace with the best views of the square are reserved for diners, and are also table-clothed. We got a table at the back though, behind the pillars and it was fine, but not quite the same. It’s clearly changed hands. All the old waiters, whose faces we knew, have gone. It’d be interesting to see the food menu at some point.
Back home and a chat on our roof terrace before collapsing into bed!
Thanks to Dasha for taking this pic.
