Henry's Hole In One
OK, I know this wins the prize for the worst ever photo in the history of blip but I just had to use it as it records (or doesn't really) the most momentous occasion so far of our weekly golf rounds when Henry scored a hole in one on the 5th this morning.
Flying in the face of his normal performance on this hole, he hit his tee shot straight, it bounced on the front of the green, bounced twice more and disappeared in the hole. There followed a prolonged period of disbelieving silence, then laughter and then hearty congratulations. When we got to the green, I whipped out the untrusty compact and took this shot of Henry holding ball and flag and looking (you'll have to take my word for this) happily bemused and rather embarrassed in equal measure.
It was only when I downloaded it just now that I saw the results of my efforts; I'm blaming it on the damp, drizzly conditions, which had obviously had an adverse effect on the camera's workings, rather than my lousy photography and , as I say, I couldn't let the event go unrecorded (and I haven't taken any more shots today, thinking my blip for the day was in the bag!)
Just to demonstrate the capriciousness of the golfing gods, four holes later Henry took 14 on the 9th and the 3 of us managed a combined total of 30 shots for the hole! Oh, how we laughed!
