Horses at Anitshkovski Bridge
In 1985 when we joined a bus tour by architects to St Petersburg (at the time Leningrad) the driver was Finnish and we made sure that when taking a tour around town on the first day, he would cross the river by Anitshkovski Bridge with the horse statues at the four corners by sculptor Peter Clodt von Jürgensburg (1805-1867). The family Clodt von Jürgensburg is a baltic-german noble family. The niece of the sculptor married a Finnish officer Alexander Järnefelt, and their children became important writers, artists, composers in the 1800's in Finland.
