The Source

Today's walk took us to the source of the River Ain. A beautiful day, a lovely walk mainly through a forested valley. The Ain itself starts in a series of underground chambers then wells up & spills over as a surface river - though at the moment it's just a green pool which isn't flowing anywhere, & I was standing by mossy rocks where the river should have been.

The water was augmented by other tributaries so further down the valley it was a proper river, as shown by the two extras, taken up & downstream from the same rocky spot.
