October 5

Roses in a client's garden today. This one dies back almost to the ground in the winter but comes to life again later in the spring. It has some blooms on it during the summer but it seems to have most of the blooms in the fall.
Two of the girls left a set of long handled pruners at a job this morning. I get tired of some of them being careless about leaving tools around. I don't know how many hand tools I have had to replace this year. It gets expensive after awhile. When I discovered them missing A went back to see if he could find them, but he didn't see them. We took everything off the truck, and still couldn't find them. After we finished for the day I went back to the first job and checked around each tree that was planted and finally found them, the handles almost blended in with the color of the soil. I know which girls were using them based on where I found them. They don't know it yet but they are each going to lose an hours pay this week to cover the cost of my gas and time to go back and find them.

I had a woman contact me a couple of weeks ago to get a price on planting some larger trees. They live in the area that was burned in the spring. Fortunately they never lost their house but did have most of the trees on their property catch fire. They had to get the siding on their house replaced. Fortunately before they evacuated they closed all their windows so there wasn't much smoke damage. Insurance covered the cost of replacing some trees, so that helps. We planted 5 trees and a couple of large shrubs for them. Most of the area they will let it fill in again as seedlings sprout and grow. I was glad to have seen her post on a FB group and that we could help them as they rebuild their lives.
