Shaggy Parasol

Down to P’s again this morning, via long queues at some roadworks and a detour via Flitwick where I picked up some food shopping. He was delighted with the newly filed and labelled paperwork I’d done, and whilst he had some tea and a hot cross bun I did a quick hoover round. Chatted about the plans for his move and tried to get him to think about what he wants to take with him but I’m not sure he quite appreciates the scale of the task to clear the house if we are to rent it. Still no joy on getting the social work assessment but as I understand it we can’t move him until that’s done or there’s a risk the council won’t continue to contribute to the funding if they haven’t assessed his level of need as being for 24 hour care. Despite many phone calls and messages being passed to the appropriate team, there’s no action, or even any response, which is just so frustrating. Also frustrated on getting medications delivered, but I just keep reassuring myself that this will all stop once he’s finally at Snaith Hall and being cared for more comprehensively…..will be lovely for all the various services to be joined up.
After helping him sort some more bank stuff, making phone calls for him and getting online access to some bills, I went to M&S to buy him some new clothes for his birthday next week as all his current clothes are looking the worse for wear and out of shape, then round to K’s. Chatting, tea and malt loaf then we went for a welcome walk down the back path where we saw these shaggy parasol mushrooms (edible and tasty apparently) and heard a very strange noise in the trees. Thought it was a cat stuck somewhere, but no sign of one, then thought it was a bird but my bird call app didn’t recognise it, then ….helped on by various other people who stopped to join in the discussion as they saw us staring into the trees….we decided it was probably a squirrel. Walked further round to Wavendon and back along the wiggly road by Mt’s piano teacher’s house (which he used to say smelled of bacon….not a good smell for a vegetarian!). Good to get out and walk a bit….when I’m down here I never feel I get enough exercise.
Fair bit of texting back and forth with LL and Arclight whilst K made supper of a chicken, chorizo and potatoes traybake then we chatted to her granddaughter on FaceTime and collapsed on the sofa to watch some nonsense and chat about all the usual topics. Good to relax….
