Camera Obscura
Lovely sun and reached 19C (felt cooler in places). Mr B nagged me to be ready earlier, or "he'd go for bread alone".
Too nice to return home. First bread, before sold out. Then checked out a new 'cool' café, restaurant, retail space and 'Lodge' (hotel), called 'Deus ex Machina'. More Hoxton than Bournemouth (formerly Urban Beach Hotel, if you know the area.
Then walk along the cliff-top to Southbourne. Such a great time of the year. Mainly dog owners around.
Stopped in the High Street for a flat white at 'Syds Slaps' (despite name - they make a pretty decent one). TD Fruits, no radicchio, but Mr B was over the moon to find his beloved Spanish dried figs back in stock.
Bus back to Boscombe for a few more items, & back for a drink at the 'Deus ex M..'. I succumbed to 2 side dishes of Hispi cabbage and chips, and glass of Picpoul Red - very drinkable. If they get Aspall cider we'll be regulars! It turned out we know one of the partners in the venture, so begged him to get it in.
Looked in community art 'space' in former empty shop in the Sovereign Centre. Walls hung with B/W portraits by photographer Brendan Barry, taken by a camera Obscura.
"UK-based photographer Brendan Barry is known for his unique cameras made of a melon, a pineapple, a mannequin, even a loaf of bread! After constructing a camper camera and a container camera, Brendan has now gone even larger: he turned an entire floor of a skyscraper into a giant working camera with a built-in darkroom". https://brendanbarry.co.uk/about
Lidl, then home. Did a fair amount of steps today!
