Coals Drop Yard, Uniqlo and Lina's - Backblip
No visit to London is complete without going to Uniqlo. Wanted to see their new store. Convenient as our friend 'E' lives in Coals Drop Yard.
So wandered round the new Uniqlo (sadly cramped and a maze), tried on a rain jacket which 2 customers separately admired on me. But resisted temptation. I really need a fully waterproof one to replace my 'fishing coat' which is disintegrating.
We met 'E' in Lina Store for lunch. Nearly fainted, was boiling hot, with heating blasting at the entrance, despite being very mild out. Asked if they could turn the heating off and open the door near us. They said no. Finally our lovely waiter, who was also feeling the heat, sorted it and opened the door! In the end the vegan pasta was revolting. Swamped in nasty vegan cheese, with no discernable taste of courgette or lemon as per the description. Paid a lot for not much.
We went back to 'E's current home, in a new development of rental accommodation with superb facilities. He loves it there, and has Coals Drop eateries etc on his door-step.
Blip is of the canal there - further to the right (not shown) is the glitzy reincarnation of Coals Drop.
Walked off our feet. Then back to R&J's for dinner and an early night.
