La Dolce Vita

We set off for Taormina after another hearty breakfast today. We parked in Giardini Naxos and took a bus up to Taormina as we didn’t want to deal with the hairpin bends and also our boat trip was leaving from GN in the afternoon. Taormina was beautiful but absolutely hoaching with tourists (I dread to think what it must be like in the summer). We spent most of our time in the Greek theatre (wonderful and in an amazing setting) and then jumped back on the bus to get to our afternoon boat trip. We were a mix of different nationalities on the boat (about 12 of us) but got on very well. The highlight was jumping into the sea next to the blue grotto as the water was an incredible colour and so clear!
The hotel we’re in now is an Agriturismo, and they supply a lot of their own food. They only offer evening meals on a Saturday and so we’ve decided to treat ourselves. It’s 4 courses with drinks so thought it best to blip before rather than after our meal!
