A Very Wet Day

Since the stallholders would have made the effort and because I've missed the last few Flea Markets, we braved the rain and went to the Cockenzie House market. It was not all plain sailing for them, either, as the rain pooled on the awnings and at one point broke through and drenched a stall of jewellery.

I was tempted by one or two items but resisted so we went up to the café, only to find a long queue so we wandered down to the back garden and admired the raindrops on the pond (main photo) before heading off. Our favourite stop in Aberlady, the Old Bakehouse Tearoom, was open as delicious coffee and a nice chat put us to rights.

All along the way huge puddles were accumulating, here and there right across the road but, as the rain has not ceased for so long, this may result in flooding.

This afternoon we attended a recital given by John Kitchen on the restored Ingram Organ at the Astoria Centre in Corstorphine. The programme consisted mainly of Scottish music, mostly of a cheerful nature - like John himself, one might say, as he is always ready with an anecdote - extra photo of him as he waited for the interval to finish. I found myself smiling for the entire recital - surely the best way to end a miserably wet day.
