St Thomas Becket

My choice of a day out today was Dungeness, via one of the most iconic churches on Romney Marsh, St Thomas Becket.  The weather forecast promised some cloud in the morning, with wall to wall sunshine in the afternoon, but as we passed the turn off for the church the sky was just a hazy boring blue, so we continued on to Dungeness for morning coffee and a wander along the beach.

A couple of hours later we had a very late lunch sitting on the beach as if it was the height of Summer with a soft breeze and 23℃ temperatures - almost unheard of for a UK Autumn day, though we later learnt that the north of the UK was not so lucky with torrential rain and flooding.

There was just time to take a walk around the renown derelict boats which are "moored" on the beach (extra) before finally heading for home, once again via the church.  This time we stopped and were delighted to now have a bit of cloud interest and the sun position was just right to catch this view of the church and its reflection in the nearby water channel.

What a great day my sister, BiL and I had ... not to forget Jak the dog who is now flaked out on the floor next to us after charging up and down the beach, swimming in the sea and objecting to not being able to eat sheep droppings!
