Holly Berries
Today's the day ........................ to sort of know
As Paula blipped the other day, there really are loads of red berries on the holly trees this year. This one is particularly nice because it has variegated leaves as well.
There is a school of thought that believes that lots of berries are a sign of a harsh winter to follow. But, in actual fact (as you probably know), the amount of berries on a plant is to do with the weather this last spring/early summer. There was a drought, so plants respond by throwing all they have into berry/seed production so they can reproduce well. It has no bearing on future weather.
I can't help thinking though, that holly trees do somehow know ......................?!
