Heron

Today's the day ....................... to pounce

This heron was motionless in the shallow water of the River Dee at low tide - but every inch of him was poised, ready to strike when the time was right.

And very soon, the time was  right and that beak speared into the water to catch a tasty (wriggling) morsel.  He did it several times, actually, as I watched from the bank.  He's obviously been perfecting the technique for a while now ......................
