Enjoying the Indian Summer

Our autumn visit to Naburn Locks on the river Ouse near York.
Beautiful day. 23C sunny. Certainly an Indian Summer.
As usual came back with a bag of conkers! Just such a joy picking them up.
The outer cases are so prickly and yet the inside fruit is so smooth and such a gorgeous shiny conker brown with lovely markings. Very tactile.

We had lunch by the river and got talking to a couple who were sat in their reclining seats enjoying the sunshine. They had come over in their caravan from Southport to enjoy a few days of Yorkshire sunshine! There is a very nice caravan park at Naburn Locks, and you can catch a bus from there into York which only takes 15 mins.

On the way home we stopped at RSPB Fairburn Ings and had a walk down to the river Aire.

Back home and the sun is still shining. It’s going to be a lovely evening.
Hope this weather lasts a bit longer.

In the collage the first 8 photos were taken at Naburn, and the bottom 3 at Fairburn.
