Shelter

We had a relaxing day in the flat. PY continued to do a few odd jobs, including some more woodwork painting, but around lunchtime we decided to take a mug of coffee each and go and sit and watch the sea. We went to Appley Tower, beneath which, are some weather shelters and it’s nice to sit and look out across The Solent to Portsmouth. There were not many big ships passing as we were watching but plenty of small craft on the water.  We really should make more use of these little shelters.

We left the flat in time for the 18:45 ferry. As we walked alongside the Pavilion I noticed that it has recently been repainted and it is looking great with a new whitewash.  I’d received a message earlier in the day that my new job needs a recent headshot of me with a plain background that can be used on a security pass. This seemed like the ideal place to take one as the light was good and the background freshly painted. PY was a bit bemused by my sudden desire for a photo round the back of the bowling lanes.

We bought a sandwich from Subway to eat on the train home. We had pre-ordered and, for the second time, the bag we picked-up was missing the drinks and crisps that come as part of the meal deal. I am glad we checked before taking the walk along the pier.

The journey home was uneventful but we were back for 9pm.
