Uluru restricts the number of flights in and out, so it's not unusual to fly from Ayers Rock to Melbourne and then onto Cairns. It does, however, make for a long day. We left the hotel at 10 am and arrived in Cairns at midnight (1am when you add in time difference).

Our pick-up was by a man who left the UK over 21 years ago. He loves it here.

I spent time in the outback searching for kangaroos but failed miserably. As we drove to our resort, I saw a beware of Roo sign and asked Peter where I should look for them? I'd been looking in the wrong place - outback, scrub land, wide open spaces, oh no. Peter turned into a residential street and, in front garden's sat dozens of wallabies. A street along and there were kangaroos too. I was so excited. I was also so tired I couldn't be bothered with my camera. I have committed them to memory though. So all is good.
