A consequence of all the rain

Since February a large grassy hollow has more often than not been full of water, providing ducks of all ages with somewhere to swim and look for food. I think that a few days ago this duck had six ducklings.

The duck is a mallard/Perera hybrid. Although one is not strongly present, there are two facial stripes. More particularly, the duck's beak is grey, rather than orange. And the white rear border to the speculum is very narrow.
