Gormley in the Crypt

After a slow start we went back to the Cathedral for a visit - we did wonder whether to pay the £12.50 entrance fee as I do have a bit of a problem with the (very rich) Church of England charging to visit their historic monuments but the entrance fee was worth it.  Included was a guided tour from a very knowledgeable guide who knew her stuff and told us some interesting nuggets.  However she kept apologising for speaking quietly as they were 'voicing' the organ and as sound reverberated around the cathedral this could affect the fine tuning of the organ (and with over 5000 pipes what a job?) Whoever knew?  We visited the crypt and saw the Antony Gormley statue - apparently the crypt floods and his piece entitled 'Sound' is then reflected in the water.

We had a walk around after our tour and found somewhere nice for lunch and mine was lovely but No.1 made the wrong choice and it was spicy and unappetising - apparently she was not the only one to think that and there had been other complaints/comments so they took it off the bill and gave her a complimentary coffee.

I drove home while she slept and after unpacking at Tooting drove back to Kent - home by 8.30 and quick catch up with OH (I had been away and had the more 'interesting' few days but he spoke longer on dentist, tesco, MIL, care home, DIY etc etc - such is life!!).

Lovely mini break with by best friend in the whole world.
