Bridge to Uig Sands
It took us two attempts to reach the beach this morning. At first we thought that we would simply cross over the bridge to the sands (blipped) as soon as the high tide retreated. After waiting here for a while, it eventually dawned on us that the water would never be low enough for us to safely wade out in our wellies. We therefore returned to the house, collected the car, and drove round to Ardroil to access the beach from the sand dunes. From here we walked in a big loop to the sea and back again. The most exciting part of this trip was to spot in the distance a dog (according to Mr hazelh) or a turkey (according to me), which turned out to be a white-tailed sea eagle out for a wander!
After a quick trip to the shop and soup and a toastie for lunch at the community café, we set off for our second beach of the day. Reef looked very inviting in the sunshine, but there was a very icy wind. We would have liked to have walked all the way to the secret beaches, but it was so cold! Instead we marched quickly to the shoreline and back again, then headed home for hot tea and coffee to warm our chilled bones.
Yesterday’s Scrabble game finished in a win for you-know-who. This was all the more annoying because I had a Scrabble across two triples that I did not place because I didn’t think that it could be a legitimate word. Now I know that ‘firmless’ does indeed exist. Had I taken the risk, I would have won the game by a large margin.
After last night’s excesses, we stayed in for supper this evening, feasting on ready-made curries from the shop. Then we watched another episode of The following events are based on a pack of lies, and one of Ghosts.
Exercise today: walking (11,389 steps)
