Farmers' Market Conversations

It's been quite chilly today and the sun has been losing the battle with the clouds.
Dana went to the Farmers' market early today to help her friend Leigh. She had the car so we took JIm to the bus stop for the Airport Express bus. It's a very comfortable and convenient way to get to the airport but the pick up spot is a single bench at the end of a parking lot underneath the freeway. The access to it is a byzantine maze of one way streets (none of which seem to go the way we want to go.

It was fun to see Dana on the other side of the counter at the market. She just came back from a trip to Mata Ortiz in Mexico with Leigh, who takes groups along with her on her buying trips to a pottery town there. The pots are extraordinarily detailed, all  painted by hand, some with a brush made with a single bristle. Her gifts to us included the ceramic quail i've shown in extras. They make beautiful jewelry with pieces of pottery that has broken...Leigh found herself without an assistant so Dana stepped up. It was fun visiting with them and hearing about the trip.

The main is a picture of a man with rainbow colored hair having a conversation with the farmer which seemed to be about what to do with cilantro and parsley. 'Make chimichurri' said the vendor. 'What's that?' said the rainbow man. The vendor replied that it was 'argentinian pesto' and rainbow man wanted to know where to buy it. the vendor was unsure and another patron suggested that he try making it himself. Several other patrons , including me, chimed in with suggestions of how to make it, since it is one of those things, like pesto, that is always better if made by hand. Rainbow man was quite interested and commented that he could write a whole blog about the Farmers' market and the conversations there.

Which gave me an idea....
