Pool day
We needed a day by the pool after staying out till almost 3 (again!). Never mind the young ones, we were dancing in more than one bar after a delicious roast lamb dinner. Luckily plenty of water and a fizzy vitamin tablet helped with the rehydration.
Brunch with my cousin and the gang before they headed off to the airport for their afternoon flight back to Gatwick. We all returned to the pool deck and toasted the afternoon away.
The evening took a somber turn when Angela had an update on the from her brother in law. Her sister has been suffering from cancer for some months but had taken a turn for worse with a suspected stroke and potential perforated bowel. Mr PHL and I took the kids off for dinner and Angela and my brother tried to rearrange a flight home for her. She is determined that we all stay but she wanted to get home to be with her mum and other family. When they joined us, they’d managed to get her a single seat going back to Glasgow on Sunday and she will be picked up by one of my brother’s friends who will drive down from Kingussie to take her back to Inverness.
I’m heartsick for her and the kids as they’ve been through a lot this year and really needed a break but totally understand why she needs to be home.
Not quite the holiday we thought.
