Went to see the girls show tonight. I really enjoyed it. It was called Triangle 100. The producers selected 100 people to represent the local population based on age, gender, race, etc. The show had 4 parts, beginning with an introductory story telling where each person was allowed to present a personal totem along with a small story about who they are and/or what gives them meaning (this was my favorite part).

During the second and third part the group of participants self organize into various charts in response to questions projected onto various multimedia screens. The live data visualization was really cool. There were several cameras and projectors set up to give the audience an overhead view of the participants self organizing into various scatter plots, bar charts etc.

The third part of the show was the same as the second except anonymous and it asked deeply probing questions of the participants over 16. It was done with the lights off using the participants cell phone cameras for data points. “Have you ever cheated on your taxes”, “Have you ever cheated on a partner”.

The final portion of the show was an interactive Q and A where the audience members were able to to poll the participants and vice versa.

Throughout the show a live New Orleans style jazz band provided a sonic backdrop that kept cadence as participants organized into the various formations and at the end they led the audience and cast out of the theater and performed a set on the street. I love live old school jazz.

Probably the most striking result to me was how people responded to the question “How would you like to commute to work “ The respondents were about nearly evenly split between walking and public transportation, with a small outlier of those who would like to ride their bikes. Only 2 people of the 100 said they would like to drive. This gave me hope as what people want is definitely aligned with what I want. That gives me hope that political agitation could be profitable here.

Great evening. Cool show, very exciting they were able to participate.
