Siena- Mini Details

I am always intrigued by the little old details that you find in old European cities that you might not find in North American cities. These are all from Siena.

Three pairs of examples-

Very old fountains.
l. a wolf spout.
r. Both the boy and the turtle have had their noses rubbed shiny by passersby, for luck. Note the snail and the salamander on the base.

Extra #1 Rings in building walls are found all over central Siena. These were to tie horses to the building while owners made deliveries. Most are plain rings. These are also decorative.
