Prospice, Respice

That is the  Latin motto of Ayr Academy,  a school  which my uncle, and many others I have known, attended.

It means "Look to the future, look to the past" and is a not uncommon latin phrase on coasts of arms . 

it seemed appropriate for this , a moment of reflection at every SNP Conference when we think of those members who have passed away in the preceding year.   The way the hall was dressed this year,  the images and details on screen were, from where I was sitting on stage, counterpointed by a promise for the future, already delivered by the SNP Government.
