Nicky and her Nikon

Boring emergency blip

The morning was dry, but when I went to the ladies golf rollup it started spitting with rain. We practised our putting today so we were outdoors, but thankfully the light rain was not enough to make us truly wet.

After golf I had to drive to a camera club member's house to collect one of my prints that I need for a Surrey Photographic Association competition on Saturday. He had my print as the selection committee are choosing prints for another interclub competition and we were asked to hand in some prints.

By lunch time it started raining and it has not stopped. However it is a light rain and it hardly seems worthy of this weather being a named storm - Storm Babet arrived today in the UK and will be here for a couple of days. Since 2015, following the US practice, it was decided to name storms and they are usually named after a shortlist of favourites submitted by the public. Storm Babet - a name selected by the Dutch weather agency KMNI - was named after a woman who visited an open day at its headquarters and put her own name forward, with the additional reason "because I was born during a storm".

With it raining all afternoon I did not go outdoors to take photos but photographed these pretty flowers at home that I was given by Gavin and Tommy as a welcome home after being away.

Tommy is about to leave for Cambridge to see Inca and then they are going to Norfolk for the weekend with friends. He has completed his first draft for his PhD proposal and has had feedback on it so it is nearly ready to submit to the various labs that he is applying to.
