Jubilee Square, Maidstone

Casting around for a blip early this morning. We’d taken the car for its MOT first thing. (It passed). I was waiting for Susan to come out of the bank (the getaway car was ready to go!)

Always look up is the advice and here it pays to look up to see the half timbered buildings. The one on the left is older than its Victorian neighbour. I liked the faint reflections on the stone bench and the granite block work.

Our town is on a slow decline, like many I suppose. There are at least 4 vape shops on the main street along with betting shops, slots, fast food joints, bargain shops and many vacant premises.

The borough council’s magazine puts on a brave and positive face. Many of their activities are around crime prevention and anti social behaviour and the great work of teams of volunteers. It’s very depressing
