A final flourish
A late start to the morning but after breakfast I went out to cut back the shoots of the roses and give the lavender a final trim.
I laid the lavender flowers in the trug to take down to the greenhouse and then, out of nowhere, came a hummingbird moth, the first I've seen this year. It darted around the lavender before disappearing off over the front hedge, and it came so close to me that I heard the hum of its wings. Magic.
