Eider no!

I was down in Gateshead today; busy day and horribly crowded trains in both directions, so didn't take any photos apart from this when I was standing at the bus stop in the morning. As I walked up the Shore I noticed that what I took to be the coot was still on her precarious nest - but no, it was a lady eider, with the coot just sitting around alongside. Dunno what has happened here at all!
