Island of Shapinsay
It has been very stormy for days and ferries cancelled all over. Much calmer today so I went over to Shapinsay, though Sunday sailings meant I only had about three hours there. Loads of migrant blackbirds around as well as redwings and a couple of fieldfare. Around fifty whooper swans around Vasa Loch (extra). I nearly always take photos of the harbour seals that pull out near the ferry slip at low tide. I like a shot where they are stretching, as in the main image. Another is of one very reluctant to shift as the tide rolls in- it looks quite sea-otterish..
